A dry and bitter story (vital and optimistic at the same time) narrates the unimaginable life of B?, a writer born in Auschwitz who was baptized with the letter B and a series of numbers tattooed on his thigh. B? commits suicide shortly after the fall of Communism in Hungary, in 1990, and his editor friend Keser?, tries to narrate his life while he searches for B?s unpublished novel. In 150 pages Kert?sz describes the torture of writing about horror and, defends the power of love, literature and memories to overcome the Auschwitz experience.
